Nantucket Bluff
Nantucket, Massachusetts
1.5 acre property atop of bluff overlooking Nantucket Harbor includes a new pool with spa, 15 stone-faced site walls, various stone and stepped paths, a nature trail and treehouse, new driveway and parking forecourt, all constructed with high quality, customized materials and finishes, surrounded by a complex matrix of new meadow plantings selected to blend seamlessly into the existing natural context.
Alison Duncan Design provided Project Management and Preparation of Construction Documents services for this 1.5 acre landscape around a new two-story house, guest cottage, and garage/cabana building. The project is bounded by a conservation wetland to the east and MESA (Massachusetts Endangered Species Act) protected land to the north.
Perched atop a bluff overlooking Nantucket Harbor, the property includes the design and construction of a new 16' x 48' pool with spa, 15 stone-faced site walls, plantings, various stone and stepped paths, a nature trail and treehouse, new driveway and parking forecourt, lighting, fencing, irrigation, and site furniture. High-quality and customized materials and a complex matrix of meadow plantings have been selected to blend seamlessly into the existing natural context with efforts made to maintain as much of the existing vegetation and topography as possible.
