While sub-consulting for Robin Key Landscape Architecture, Alison Duncan prepared a series of proposals for the Park Avenue Synagogue. The design entailed developing a flexible outdoor space that provided a shade structure and seating for events, children’s educational activities, and one that performed as occasional chuppah structure for weddings. Elegant solutions for planting were incorporated as vine screens, trellises, vine cables, and raised planter beds. An open circulation plan was required as was FDnY roof access. Alison Duncan also prepared designs decorative wall panels to screen surrounding walls and parapets, including a large scale Corten steel perforated with leaf motifs.
